sicovecas is a visual artist whose work centres on abstraction, spatial memory and the textures of lived spaces. Often shortened to ‘As I See (SIC)’, his nickname comes from his roots as a graffiti and street artist and reflects his continued interest in creating art based on his immediate surroundings.

Concrete and ceramic have become key media for sicovecas, bridging his work on the street and in the studio. Concrete, marked by graffiti, erosion and repair, carries the imprint of urban life and its unending drive for development, but is also the very personal material used to build homes; ceramic, fragile and imperfect, celebrates what is human in a world that is constantly shifting and becoming ever more algorithmic. His interest in spatial memory and ideas of ‘home’ has expanded into a collaborative project, Doewa Matjan, a platform for street artists in the Netherlands and Indonesia to challenge colonial narratives and create art that contemplates identity and belonging.

Alongside personal projects centering on human connection through street art, sicovecas has exhibited internationally, including “East Meets Streets” at L’epicerie Fine Art Gallery, Paris (2023); “Behind the Curtains” at Artsphere Gallery, Jakarta (2024); “Rhythm” at All About Art, Singapore (2024); and “Listening Through Walls” at Readyspace Gallery, Yogyakarta (2025).

Across media, his work remains raw, abstract, and organic — what he describes as the closest style to being human.
